Summer Camp
If you are looking for a summer basketball camp I would strongly consider The Mass Commanders Summer Camp. The 2 biggest reasons to consider this camp are the instruction and the camp size. The camp Instructor will be Dana Harris, 9th ELITE/Blue coach, and iHoop Academy Skills Trainer. Other instructors in addition to Dana will be Mass Commanders President /Director Rudy Crichlow, Jr. and other Mass Commanders/New England Playaz Academy coaches. The size of each camp will be a max of 25 players. The size is drastically reduced to provide a ideal learning environment. Your children can’t possibly get better in a gym with 60+ kids.  Camps will be based on skill work and team play. Players will need a lunch, basketball, and plenty of water daily.  Mass Commanders gear will be given out at each camp for top weekly campers and most improved campers. Campers should bring plenty of water and a basketball.
The only other camps I would endorse because I know players are going to get better are camps recommended or ran by New England Storm Basketball ClubFive Star Basketball, and/or PGC. If you have any additional question please feel free to contact me.

Summer Weekend Workouts
After placing several teams in summer basketball leagues I have come to the conclusion that there isn’t much benefit. Getting kids to games during the week is a hassle due to work schedules, commutes, and vacations. Even when kids could show up its barely enough. We were in 2 championship games this past summer and lost them both due to lack of numbers. Lastly, the cost was more expensive to play than having the kids workout out as a team and develop skills and concepts.
This summer I will introduce team/grade based workouts. These workouts will be held on the weekends at the JCC in Newton Saturday and/or Sunday for 1hr. The workouts will allow players to get better acquainted with one another, build strong relationships, and work on the game of basketball. In order to close the gap on the teams that have been around longer and are more athletic we need to make sure our players are skilled to offset what we can’t control.
Here is an example on how this would work…. 6-8th graders would workout on a Saturday and/or Sunday 9-10AM for 8wks starting June 4 – Aug 13, 20116. The program will only cost $100 for every 4 workouts. This program will give players a competitive advantage once Fall rolls around.  Development is the key to consistent and efficient play. The schedule is below. Please use your child’s current 2016/2017 grade level to determine the appropriate time.
All workouts will be at held at….
